As many of you may or may not know I have an amazing little boy who has Down Syndrome. He was born premature with heart and digestive issues. Flash forward 10 years and he is dancing, swimming and kicking butt in martial arts. I have been a big fan of Changing the Face of Beauty and all they do. I love it mostly because of the image that they have created, the vision they have and the message they bring. It goes hand in hand with the vision that I have had for my son since he was born.
Everything you see from changing the face of beauty looks like how I feel about our family dynamic in regards to J. A feeling of family. Belonging. Genuine acceptance. Unconditional love. Encouragement and oh my gosh the cuteness!
If you could hear my house right now while I write this ... you would hear my boys laughing as hard as they can, jumping on their beds, talking about star wars and playing with light sabers. There is no division. No bias between them. They are just brothers being brothers.
It's heartwarming for me as a mother to read posts from Changing the face of beauty and so encouraging to know others see your child like you do.
Here is a recent post from my instagram explaining how I feel about J and whats to come this weekend.
When the odds are stacked against me, I think of this little guy 💙💛⠀ ⠀ Anytime I think something is physically tough I think of him. I think of how much he has overcome and how much he amazes us all the time. ⠀ ⠀ When he was born something was ignited in me that I didn't know was there #mamabear 🐻❤⠀ ⠀ I refused to believe the numbers and statistics that were thrown at us. 😒😔😠 To encourage all the mamas with littles like my guy here are some truths.⠀ ⠀ He is strong.⠀ He is brave. ⠀ He is kind. ⠀ He is funny. ⠀ He is a hard worker. ⠀ He is motivated. ⠀ He is handsome. ⠀ He is intelligent. ⠀ He can ride a bike. ⠀ He can walk. ⠀ He can run. ⠀ He can read. ⠀ He can do math. ⠀ He plays baseball⠀ He does martial arts. ⠀ He loves to swim.⠀ He feeds, dresses and baths himself.⠀ He makes his bed and cleans his room.⠀ He's awesome at video games.⠀ He's better than most on technology.⠀ He's a typical little boy that loves his friends, family and god.⠀ ⠀ You see ... we shouldn't always believe the "facts" because history has shown all of us that things always change. He is my firstborn and yes he has #downsyndrome but we do not treat him any different than the rest of our family and we tell people he is #theupsideofdownsyndrome 🙃⠀ ⠀ If you havent heard yet @changingthefaceofbeauty will be holding a headshot clinic for all of Arizona on July29th in Tucson, Arizona @cmtucson #tucsonchildrensmuseum I will be there taking photos and representing #changingthefaceofbeauty to help promote that #allabilitiesarewelcome and should be included in #advertising to represent the full picture of what our beautiful world really looks like. Please share and spread the word and if you haven't checked out Changing the Face of Beauty please do!⠀ ⠀ Ok. Now, who thinks my lil man could be on the next @hm_kids ad? ⠀
As you can tell from above I am super excited to announce that this weekend I will be partnering/ participating with Changing the Face of Beauty for their headshot clinic on July 29th 2018 at the Tucson Children's Museum.
